Final Walkthrough and Move-In

The last step of your homebuilding journey is both exciting and important—the final walkthrough. During this meeting, you and your builder will walk through the entire home together to ensure everything is complete and built to the standards outlined in your plans and agreement. This is the time to check for any final touch-ups, small adjustments, or details that need attention before move-in.
Once the walkthrough is complete and all items are addressed, you’ll receive your Certificate of Occupancy (CO) and, most importantly, your keys. From there, it’s time to move in and enjoy your brand-new home—custom designed and built just for you.
At this stage, you’ll also need to secure homeowner’s insurance to protect your investment going forward. In addition, if you financed your build with a construction-to-permanent loan, it will automatically convert into your long-term mortgage at this time. If you used a construction-only loan, you’ll work with your lender to finalize a permanent mortgage before move-in.
By completing these final steps, you can step into your new home with confidence, knowing your investment is protected and your financing is securely in place.
